Biosketch:

Joan Aaron is the Nurse Educator for Oncology and Critical Care Services in the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Nursing Department. Since completing her BSN at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she has gained oncology nursing experience that spans over 20 years. She is certified in Oncology and Nursing Professional Development. As a Nurse Educator, Ms. Aaron teaches and coordinates many classes, including the Oncology Education Series, Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy courses, Cellular Therapy course, and the OCN review course. She is a current ELNEC trainer. The Oncology and Critical Care Educators empower nurses with the skills, knowledge, and critical thinking from novice to expert for the delivery of the highest levels of patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ms. Aaron supports this oncology nurse development through specialty certifications. She administers the ONCC Freetake Program for oncology certifications. Ms. Aaron has a passion for nursing and education. She derives great satisfaction from using the educational design process to enhance learners' knowledge, skills and competence. She believes providing nurses with quality education supports nurse retention and the best patient outcomes.

Biosketch:

Serin Alexander serves as a Nurse Educator with the Clinical Center Nursing Department's Office of Nursing Professional Development joining this team in February 2023. Ms. Alexander will co-coordinate the department's central orientation, represent Nurse Educators on for the Shared Governance Performance Improvement Committee; coordinate the IV/Blood Workshop; and, contribute to the Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infection (CLABSI) prevention initiative in support of staff education.

Serin earned her Master's in Nursing Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Guru Gobind Singh University in Delhi, India. She has formerly held positions as Manager for Nursing Education, Professional Development Specialist, Clinical Educator and Clinical Nurse in various hospitals within the community with a clinical background in Medical Surgical Nursing. Ms. Alexander has a passion for nursing and education and strives to empower nurses to provide quality patient outcomes.

Biosketch:

Sue-Ann Arboine is the Diabetes Care and Education Specialist for the NIH Clinical Center Nursing Department (CCND). Sue-Ann works closely with the Diabetes and Blood Glucose Management Service (DBGMS) to provide blood glucose management education for patients throughout various patient care areas. Ms. Arboine is also the head of the Blood Glucose Management Unit Nurse Champs, unit bases nurses that serves their patient care area as a diabetes education resource.

Ms. Arboine earned her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Phoenix online and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University in Miami, FL. She has also served as adjunct faculty at Washington Adventist University School of Nursing. Sue-Ann has been a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist for the last five years and pediatric nurse since the start of her nursing career in 2007 at Children’s National Hospital in DC. Her interests are in nursing and patient education and advocates for patient & family centered care.

Biosketch:

Nam Hoang is currently Nurse Educator for the Staffing & Workforce Planning Office. Nam provides oversight directed toward educational activities and professional development for the federal float pool and contract staff for the Nursing Department. He collaborates closely with nursing leadership and unit educators to ensure timely completion of orientation, annual, and periodic training requirements. In addition, Nam is the National Institutes of Health's Advance Cardiac Life Support Training Coordinator. He oversees the operation and makes available this mission critical program to all healthcare providers within the NIH community to maintain credentialing compliance.

Nam is a graduate of the University of Maryland at Baltimore, School of Nursing. Nam began his nursing career in 1994 when he commissioned on active duty with the Army Nurse Corp. After Nam completed Officer Basic Course, he served his first tour of duty as a Med/Surg nurse at Kimbrough Army Hospital, in Fort Meade, MD. During this tour, Nam found great satisfaction caring for medical and surgical patients and developed a passion for perioperative nursing. Nam went on to complete a 3-month residency in Perioperative Nursing at Brook Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This training prepared Nam for his second tour of duty at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a perioperative nurse. In 2007, Mr. Hoang joined the National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center as a member of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps. He worked in the Department of Perioperative Medicine as a Neurosurgery Nurse Specialist, supporting the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) surgical cases. In 2012, he advanced to the Clinical Educator position, while continuing to provide patient care duties in the Operating Room and Pre-Anesthesia Clinic. In 2018, he was promoted to Service Educator for the Operating Room, Recovery Room, Interventional Radiology, and Sterile Processing. In 2022, Nam embarked onto his current position as Nurse Educator for the Staffing & Workforce Planning Office. Nam's high level of initiative, responsibility, resourcefulness, and commitment has made notable impacts to the Clinical Center Nursing Department and the NIH.

Biosketch:

Dr. Jennifer Jabara is a Nurse Educator in the Office of Nursing Professional Development. Dr Jabara is recognized as a Nurse Executive (NE-BC) and Pediatric Nurse (CPN-BC).

Dr. Jabara earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, with a focus on organizational leadership and interprofessional education, a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University with a focus in health care systems administration and nursing education, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Jabra's clinical experience includes oncology, hematology, bone marrow transplant, pediatrics, and end-of-life care.

Dr. Jabara serves as the NIH Clinical Center simulation coordinator, bringing together interprofessional teams for high-fidelity simulation experiences.

Dr. Jabara coordinates the IV/Blood Workshop, the Fundamentals of Clinical Research curriculum, the Genetics and Genomics curriculum, the coordinating council education series, and manages the Absorb learning management system.

Biosketch:

Celeste Klutsey is the Nurse Educator for Peri Anesthesia, Perioperative, Interventional Radiology and Sterile Processing Services. Ms. Klutsey holds a BA in Biology from the George Washington University, a BSN from Marymount University, and an MSN in Public Health Nursing from Walden University. She has years of experience in perioperative nursing. Ms. Klutsey joined the NIH in 2015 and worked as a perioperative nurse in the Department of Perioperative Medicine. Throughout her career at the NIH, she has served as a Senior Clinical Research Nurse and has held various roles to include charge-nurse, preceptor, and clinical educator for the operating room. Ms. Klutsey holds a certification as a certified nurse in the operating room (CNOR). She is a member of the Association of peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN). Utilizing her expertise in practice, she has co-authored perioperative research posters for AORN conferences and has assisted in efforts to help nurses and technologists professionally develop their competencies in perioperative care, including pre-, post-, and intra-surgical intervention. She has also been instrumental in the training of nurse residents to perioperative services through the implementation of Peri-op 101 and ASPAN training courses. Ms. Klutsey has a passion for mentoring staff in their education and professional development. Her special interests include exploring and employing various training techniques that enhance clinical practice in procedural areas.

Meg Mikula is an Oncology Nurse Educator for the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Nursing Department's Oncology and Critical Care Service. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Ms. Mikula is board certified in Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplant, and Nursing Professional Development. In the past has, she has served as a Clinical Research Nurse, Clinical Manager, and Clinical Educator. Ms. Mikula is passionate about Shared Governance and participates actively in the Clinical Practice Committee. She coordinates the Oncology Education Series, End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium, OCN® Review Course, Cellular Therapy Course, and the Tracheostomy Competency Course. Biosketch:

Melanie Mudd is a Nurse Educator in the Office of Nursing Professional Development at the NIH, Clinical Center. An alumnus of The Catholic University of America School of Nursing (BSN class of 2010), Ms. Mudd has over a decade of nursing experience, with majority of her practice in the specialty of Pediatric Nursing in both clinical and clinical research settings. She transitioned to her true calling of being a nurse educator after receiving a Master of Science degree in Health Services Leadership and Management, Education Focus, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing (2015). Ms. Mudd's areas of passion are transition to practice and onboarding/orientation: in addition to serving as the Coordinator for the NIH Clinical Research Nursing Residency Program, Ms. Mudd co-coordinates the NIH Clinical Center Nursing Department Orientation program, working with service-based educators and unit-based clinical educators on the implementation of a standardized orientation offering for clinical staff.

Ms. Mudd holds certification as a Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPD-BC), and strives to create relevant and engaging programs that will further the professional development of NIH Clinical Research Nursing staff. She is a proud member of the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD), American Nurses Credentialing Center's Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) Learning Community, American Nurses Association, and Philippine Nurses Association of America.

Biosketch:

Mary Myers is the Service Educator for Medical Surgical Specialties (MSS), Clinical Center Nursing Department (CCND), NIH. MSS service includes clinical research nurses (CRNs) caring for in-patient, day hospital, and ambulatory clinic patients from multiple institutes: NIAID (allergic, immunologic, infectious), NIAMS (arthritis/rheumatic, muscle/bone, and skin), NHLBI (heart, lung and blood), NIDDK (diabetes, digestive, kidney, liver, endocrine and weight management) and NEI (eye disorders). Ms. Myers develops and provides educational content (on-line, in-person and hybrid) for MSS protocol/patient specific topics, nursing department initiatives and professional development. Additionally, she provides mentorship, guidance, support and professional development opportunities for the clinical educators within the MSS service. Ms. Myers values life-long learning, received her Master of Science in Nursing Education in 2012 and became a member of Sigma Theta Tau. She has published several articles in an ongoing effort to disseminate her love of shared knowledge. Ms. Myers is a member of American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the local chapter (GWAC), as well as Association for Nursing Professional Development. She has been certified in progressive care since 2012 (PCCN) and maintains her AHA instructor status for BLS and ACLS. Over the past 30+ years in the nursing department, she has been an active team member and co-chair of many nursing initiatives including the CCND professional practice model. She actively supports shared governance and enjoys mentoring all levels of students, sharing with them her love for nursing, education and life-long learning.

Biosketch:

Dr. Rosa Rousseau is currently the Service Educator for Pediatrics, Neuroscience, and Behavioral Health, at the NIH, Clinical Center. Dr. Rousseau has 27+ years of pediatric, neonatal, high-risk maternity, and flight nursing experience. Dr. Rousseau has also worked in the field of clinical simulation since 2010, integrating simulation into nursing curricula, and designing simulation labs. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Healthcare Systems Leadership from Chamberlain University, a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University. As Service Educator for NBHP, she works closely with clinical educators and multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate staff education and training. To demonstrate a desire for safe, effective, and high-quality care, Dr. Rousseau holds certifications as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), High Risk Neonatal Nurse, and Pediatric-Neonatal Transport Nurse. She is a member of the Association of Nurses in Professional Development (ANPD), the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL). She is also adjunct online faculty at St. Thomas University teaching in the Science and Nursing program. Dr. Rousseau has a passion for education and the use of non-threatening simulation to improve nursing and patient outcomes.
