She completed her medical degree and postdoctoral training at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Meltzer is well known for her expertise in translational imaging methods, including developing and validating MRI-based partial volume correction algorithms for PET. Her primary NIH-supported research has emphasized applying novel advanced imaging strategies to better understand brain structure-function relationships in normal aging, late-life depression, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Meltzer is also known for her role in leading the clinical evaluation of the world’s first combined PET/CT scanner at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Meltzer is currently principal investigator of a P50 center grant to establish an in vivo cellular and molecular imaging center focused on biomarker development at Emory. She also serves as founding director of the Emory Center for Systems Imaging, a shared School of Medicine/Department of Radiology center of research excellence emphasizing advanced imaging of biomedical disease and behavior.

Dr. Meltzer is president-elect of the American Society of Neuroradiology, Chair of the Academic Council for the Academy of Radiology and chairs the Neuroradiology Commission on the American College of Radiology’s Board of Chancellors.
