Do you have stomach cancer?
Researchers at the National Cancer Institute want to learn more about stomach cancer and the inherited factors that may contribute to the development of stomach cancer. More information is needed so that we may learn how to better diagnose, treat, and prevent stomach cancer.
Some inherited medical conditions may increase a person's risk of stomach cancer and include:
- stomach lesions
- family history of stomach cancer
- hereditary diffuse gastric cancer
- hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC, also known as Lynch syndrome)
- familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)
- and others
This is a screening and evaluation study that will determine if you are eligible to participate in additional studies for stomach cancer.
As a part of this study you may receive:
- Blood work and urine tests
- Imaging studies (MRI, CT, PET, nuclear medicine scans, and ultrasound)
- Endoscopy of your upper GI tract to collect tissue and tumor biopsies
- Tumor tissue tests to learn more about the type of tumor and in some cases how best to treat it
All study-related tests and procedures are provided at no cost.
Location: The NIH Clinical Center, America's research hospital, is conveniently located on the Metro Red Line (Medical Center stop) in Bethesda, MD.
