More than 4,000 students register for Take Your Child to Work Day, which nourishes young scientific minds across NIH
Children explore labs and technology, become a hands-on genetic researcher, learn about the life of social workers, chemists, dieticians and peer reviewers
During Operating Room Boot Camp at the NIH Clinical Center, children placed their wrists under a vein viewer for vein illumination, a device that aids medical staff in finding a good vein for venipuncture. A dental hygienist at the NIH Clinical Center teaches children the importance of maintaining a healthy mouth during the 24th NIH Take Your Child to Work Day. She discussed the role teeth play in actions such as talking, swallowing, chewing and taste and asked her audience to imagine doing these things without teeth.
